The band's name originates from the drummer's nickname Dave 'Wildebeest' Willoughby who was an original member of another Whitstable band 'Invisible Dog' along with the bass
player Matt Smith. Mid 1998 lead guitarist Derek Mannouch and singer Jane Abbott joined the band to produce the
current line-up.
Wildebeest write their own music, as well as covering a range of 60s and 70s rock and blues, very much
in their own style.
They have also supported other local acts such as Amanda Jane Kewley (who was a band member for a brief period).
